Convert a mixed fraction into an improper fraction

Mixed fraction = whole number + proper fraction

(i) `2frac{3}{5} = 2 + 3/5 = frac{2 × 5 + 3}{5} = 13/5`

(ii) `3frac{4}{7} = 3 + 4/7 = frac{3 × 7 + 4}{7} = 25/7`

Convert an improper fraction into a mixed fraction

`29/8`  or 29 ÷ 8
Quotient = 3 and remainder = 5
`therefore 29/8 = 3 + 5/8 =  3 frac{5}{8}`
